Focus on Society: The AIS Ephraim McLean Membership Scholarship Program

Beginning in 2019, and named after one of the founders of AIS, Ephraim McLean, The Ephraim McLean Membership Scholarship program grants a one-year Doctoral Student membership and a one-year Academic membership to individuals in countries rates in the Medium or Low categories on the Human Development Index.

The Doctoral Student membership is awarded each year to support PhD students at universities in countries classified with Medium or Low Human Development Index ratings. The Academic membership is in support of faculty members at universities in countries with Low UN Human Development Index ratings. The awarded memberships include complete access to all AIS membership programs and services including the eLibrary, education resources, and career services.

As registration for ICIS 2021 quickly approaches, AIS members are asked to encourage colleagues who might qualify to apply for the Ephraim McLean membership Scholarship program. The application process is open year-round and available at https://aisnet.org/page/McLeanScholarship.

A Message from the Conference Co-Chairs

The ICIS 2021 Conference Committee is still committed to providing an in-person experience in Austin as well as a virtual experience. We will continue to monitor the situation. For those AIS members that cannot travel or do not feel comfortable traveling, we will be offering a virtual experience with many hybrid elements that will mix in-person and virtual attendees.

We are pleased to report that many attendees do plan to attend in person. We have created a public dashboard that outline the responses we have received from authors of accepted papers, doctoral students, and potential attendees. We will continue to ask stakeholders their intentions. If you receive these surveys from the AIS office, please do let us know what you are thinking.

Registration for ICIS opens on September 30th.

We look forward to safe and inclusive conference where all AIS members can attend. To this end, we are informally calling the conference ICIS 2021 – Austin and the World!
